Southern Spiritual Pathway

The Spiritual Way of the South opens the door to an opportunity to set out on an alternative path that connects us with ourselves by visiting unusual places closely linked to the roots of Christianity in Spain.

It is a pilgrimage route with an enormously rich historical and cultural itinerary and very unique landscapes, which The route starts in the Granada region of Guadix, Prima Sedes Hispaniae, and runs through the Baza and Huéscar regions of the Altiplano Granadino to the Royal Basilica of Caravaca de la Cruz in the Region of Murcia.

The starting point and end point of the pilgrimage is decided by the pilgrim.

It is designed for all types of public who wish to find themselves again and want to be accompanied by a millenary landscape and historic cities of the south of the peninsula with an intimate religious relationship.

Sections of the road

The route can be taken from Guadix to Caravaca de la Cruz or from Caravaca de la Cruz to Guadix. The starting point and end point of the pilgrimage are decided by the pilgrim.

Huéscar

With a collegiate church of Santa María Mayor de la Encarnación, which enjoys the prerogative of being a perpetual jubilee church by mercy of Pope Benedict XVI, and which houses a lignum crucis,

Carava de la Cruz

The Royal Basilica of the Sanctuary also houses another lignum crucis The town has become one of the few famous holy cities in the world and is nowadays a traditional destination for many pilgrims.
